Egg Lamps and watercolors

I thought I would show you some pics of Ostrich eggs that I have carved and turned into lamps.
I have also done some watercolor paintings. I'm sorry about the glare on the elephant painting.

Wow those lamps are amazing. Are the eggs hard to work with? The paintings are beautiful and definately capture your love of Africa.

The eggs are very hard and the dust is poisonous. The egg is placed in a glass box and you put just your hands inside the box and wear a mask so you don't breathe the dust. I first draw on the egg and then use a tool similar to a dentists drill to do the carving.
The egg is then wired with an oven globe to make a lamp.

I did sell a few but have none for sale at the moment. I will get more time to carve eggs once I move back to Africa.
